It’s that time of year… Graduation

The road to high school graduation is a long journey, and you should celebrate your accomplishments with a party!  This is one day that is all about the graduate so why not decorate with invitations and favors with the graduate’s photo!  Most  photographers sells packages for graduation announcements and you can put a photo right inside the envelope or even on the announcement itself.   Another option is to order a custom announcement or party invitation from places like Costco, Sam’s Club, VistaPrint or Zazzle!  You can let your creative juices flow and do a single photo or a collage!

To add to the festive décor,  you can make a Mortar Board/Graduation Cap Card Box for the guests to drop off their Congratulatory cards.  What a cute and easy decoration idea!  The card box can even be used as a guest book by having your guests leave Congratulation messages to the grad!

Hosting a graduation party in an “Open House” format will allow your guests to pop in to say “Congratulations” and then go on their way to the next celebration.   Planning a block of 3 or 4 hours gives the graduate a chance to mingle with the guests, and your guests an opportunity to plan their “drop-in” at a time that is convenient for them.  An open house will give you a steady flow of guests and allow the graduate to visit with all those who attend.  Light appetizers or hors d’oeuvres will be the perfect palate pleaser and can be easy on the budget.   Serving finger foods such as fresh fruits and vegetables, bruschetta with spinach or cheese dip, pre-made sandwiches, mini pizzas, deviled eggs, or mini muffins are all easy to do and can be prepared ahead of time.  Graduation season is a busy time for everyone!  Chances are your guests will be attending several parties.  How many slices of a graduation sheet cake can one actually eat?  Why not do something a little different such as a candy bar or dessert bar?

“Candy bars” are the latest trend for parties and are a great way to add a sweet touch to the celebration and also gives your guests a take home “thank you” for stopping by!  Use either the graduate’s favorite candy or the school colors for a candy theme!  Candy can be purchased in bulk from places such as Candy Warehouse, Jelly, or the Oriental Trading Company.   Make sure to have a bag or sack guests can put their candy in and take home whatever they don’t eat at the party.

Adding a personalized candy bar wrapper from Favorite Announcements with the graduate’s photo will be a personal touch that won’t be forgotten.  The back of the candy bar wrapper can include information about school activities or sports which the graduate was involved or what they have accomplished.  Why not include a kindergarten promotion photo and the high school photo right on the front of the wrapper to show how they have changed over the years!

Chances are your party will be during the summer and it will be warm.  Adding a personalized bottle label to the water bottle, soda, or beer bottle is another personal touch that is affordable and very easy to do.
